Do you need to site the source in a response to a response on an essay according to MLA guidelines?

My professor igned us to write a response to a response on an essay. I know I need to site the essay itself, but do I need to site the source we are responding too? It was written by a former student in her cl. I did use specific quotes from his response. If the answer is yes-how do I do it? Thanks
