try connecting something else through the USB drive...if it works...then it's working properly...if not...you may need to back up and then restore/reinstall...otherwise if USB drive is working but just not with the pendrive...you could try reinstalling the drivers...most devices have built in drivers...if not...you can google to find the driver for the particular model...
