Why don't we reform the electoral college?

I like that reform and have proposed it among friends and it has been nearly universally well received. By keeping the college it avoids the big state-little state problem, but by avoiding winner-takes-all it makes it so that minority voters in a partisan state still have a reason to show up to the polls. It also should prevent early blowouts by east coast states that close polls earlier.
